Meet Doris

“I have recently returned to AIM as a client. Almost 4 years ago I had decided to try AIM since I had gained almost 35 pounds over about 25 years. I had never faced my weight as a “problem” and had very little experience with diets. To tell the truth, jI never liked the idea of limiting what I could eat. It seemed to me that that would not be sustainable. So the truth of being overweight was something I finally faced recovering from a hip replacement surgery. For almost a year I made attempts to monitor my food intake by following a few diet “trends”...with no success. I love to cook, so I was not living on fast food or prepared food. Unfortunately, even though I was eating freshly prepared, nutritious meals, I had absolutely no luck in losing the pounds that had so slowly and insidiously accumulated. AIM to the rescue. I had guidance about how to use simple tools to make note of the nutrients I was consuming, how to “budget” those nutrients to bring my diet in balance, and like “magic “ the pounds began to disappear.

For three years, I maintained the weight I had set as my goal, by keeping an eye on the scale and revisiting my food “budgeting” guidelines for a few days to get back on track. Losing the weight slowly, with the guidance of my AIM coach was doable, maintainable, and suited me. I still enjoyed cooking, the creative outlet I had always enjoyed, but with a more interesting twist…I had learned a lot about how to make things taste great while keeping my nutrient ‘budget’ under control. I was never limited by choice, but instead learned how to balance out the occasional “big ticket” treats. This was a system I could live with…it was sustainable.

Then 2020 and a worldwide pandemic arrived. I no longer was exercising at my gym 3 times a week. I was no longer “out and about.” So once again, life had changed, and I realized almost a year later, and after a 13 pound weight gain, that I needed to review the lessons I had learned with AIM. I am happy to report that bringing a little structure has me already seeing results and it has lifted some of that COVID cloud for me. I have confidence that I will, with time, be back at my goal weight.”
