Meet Mike

“Let me start by saying; joining AIM has been the best investment I’ve ever made.

I turned 39 years old, and was 275lbs and I needed a change. I started going to Crossfit and tracking calories on my own, but my weight loss slowed down after about 9 months. I got stuck and was still another 25lbs from where I wanted to be.

In November of 2018, I joined AIM, focused on macros over calories, and the scale started moving again, rapidly. Working with Amy, I started eating way more “volume” of food, wasn’t hungry, and was losing weight consistently. I hit my 100lb weight loss mark in March 2019, but realized that I was still learning about food and biology. I’m an engineer and love science, but realized very quickly how little I knew or worse yet, what bad/misinformation I had grown up with.

Through AIM, I’ve identified and am working to unravel 40 years of bad habits and routines. I’ve learned how to eyeball portions, how food affects me, what foods makes me feel full, and what to eat to fuel my workouts. I also learned how to read labels and understand ingredients.

I have new healthy routines and look at food as fuel. I plan ahead—meal prepping on Sundays, have standard grocery lists, and pack my meals when traveling and heading to work. I don’t eat when I’m bored, don’t celebrate with food, and don’t have guilt when I eat too much. I routinely set short term and long-term goals for myself to stay on track.

AIM coaching has helped me to reorganize my priorities…myself, my family, then my work. It isn’t selfish to put myself first on that list, because if I’m not the first priority, I can’t give the rest of my priorities the attention they deserve.

I still have a lot to learn about food, myself, and keeping bad habits from creeping in- it’s a process; not a solution. But, I’m 42 now and in better shape than when I graduated high school, 24 years ago.”
