Common Food Choices That Are Stalling Your Progress

Check yourself.

It’s not the spaghetti you’re eating at dinner that’s stalling your progress. It’s all of this:

  1. Your coffee order. Instead of a grande vanilla latte, try a grande americano with a pump of vanilla and light cream

  2. Handful of nuts or trail mix. Instead of buying high calorie and/or hyper-palatable foods in bulk, try buying single-serving pouches of nuts, popcorn, bars, or treats.

  3. Eating off your kids’ plate. Try serving your kids smaller portions with the option for seconds and/or ask your kids to clear their own plates or recruit your significant other to take over that duty.

  4. Break room snacks. Instead of grazing on store-bought goodies, try packing your own cooler and make sure to include a small treat for yourself or avoid going into the break room until after you’ve eaten your food.

  5. Foods labelled “keto” or “paleo.” Instead of assuming these foods are “better,” try checking the nutrition label and choosing the dressing with the lowest fat content per serving.

  6. Eating out. Instead of allowing your meals to be decided in the moment, try planning ahead by setting out a protein so it’s ready to be cooked come dinnertime.
