Common Weight Loss Tactics Holding You Back

You won’t find an AIM Nutrition coach offering you a quick fix.

The core of our program is education. Self-awareness and nutritional knowledge is required for long-term success. Without these, a person is setting themselves up for a life as a yo-yo dieter.

Are these common weight loss tactics holding you back?

  • Trying to restrict too much. The goal isn’t to barely eat, the goal is to eat more high-quality food. Cutting out entire food groups is unsustainable and more often than not, unhealthy in the long term. Don’t eat less….eat better.

  • Black and white thinking. Food isn’t divided into ‘good’ or ‘bad’ categories. Food is food. This level of restriction is only going to make you crave your ‘off limits’ food more. Your best bet is to test boundaries around calorie-dense foods so you can include them in your weight loss plan.

  • All or nothing mindset. Shifting to the all-or-something mindset is going to save your progress. The idea that less than perfect isn’t worthwhile is the quickest way to self-sabotage. Use the blips in your plans as learning points so you can slowly improve how you handle vulnerable situations.

  • Giving up too soon. There are no quick fixes for long-term weight loss and if someone says differently, they’re pushing their own agenda…not yours. The only thing quitting gets you is more practice at quitting when things get hard.
